Maternity Photography Close to Home

This is my stunning sister in law, Shannon. She will be giving birth to my nephew or niece (my girls are adamant that it is a girl!) in a little over 3 weeks. I can not tell you how excited I am. I am almost crazy.

Yes, I am one of those Aunties!! I have three kids of my own, but this is my baby brother’s baby. I can not WAIT! I had the privilege to visit them last weekend to do her maternity pictures. You will not believe how lovely she is. She made every picture to perfect. Seriously. I don’t know how on earth I will narrow all 511 shots down!! So far I have 105 that I LOVE!

Maternity pictures in Jackson, CA where I live are easy enough. I was in new territory on this session for sure down in Southern California. But we figured it out fast- we broke into the old train station in Old Town Moorpark off High Street. It was funny. And dirty. But mostly funny.

As you can see, she is all belly. Don’t you just hate love to see such a beautiful pregnant woman? Who doesn’t even look pregnant from behind? Sure you do. :) So I will be gone for a few months weeks  when this baby comes! I will need to schedule some sessions in Ventura County! Don’t miss me to much Jackson- I have quite a few newborn sessions this fall! One tomorrow morning!

Until then- here is my Shannon and Taylor’s baby!

Jackson, CA Baby Photographer plays Wedding Photographer

So I get request for weddings. Annndd I say no.  I can’t handle the pressure! Nothing about being responsible for someone’s one day of true perfectness appeals to me! Lenses stop working, memory chips die… cameras get stupid for no reason all the time. Ask any wedding photographer who has been in business for a half a second and you will see that is all true.

And I just don’t want it to be my fault if you have no pictures from your wedding! So when my brother in law asked me to shoot his wedding my response was:

” Why don’t we call this guy? He is an actual wedding photographer.”

Actually I said OK. Really. I did.

And below is a little peak at a child photographer playing the part of wedding photographer for a day. (notice the pics of the children??)

I hope Greg and Tiff love this photos. I cried laughed a lot as I took them!

Did I mention that my middle child (yes middle) turned 4!!!

I can’t believe it either. She is so fun. Courtney is the classic middle child: busy, funny, loud, bossy, loaner, butterfly… I could go on and on. She is so smart too. She wants to be just like her big sister too. And she takes really good care of her baby brother.

Her love language is encouragement. At Gracie’s soccer games, Court is the loudest one cheering her on. She LOVES being a cheerleader. I am so excited to watch her grow. Not to mention she is pretty STUNNING if I do say so myself. We are in trouble where she is concerned that’s for sure!

So when I’m not taking pictures, taking something from the baby, taking a child to the potty, taking the groceries in the house

or taking an aspirin for my headache from said activities… I’m building. Yes, I said building. Or at least I plan on building. A LOT! I found this amazing blog: www.knockoffwood.blogspot.com from my friend Lacy’s great blog: www.spacey-lacy.blogspot.com

Knock Off Wood is so amazing! Ana is a mom in ALASKA and she is a self taught carpenter. Her plans are super clean and easy to follow. She is going viral right now and you better hop on board before this lady is on HGTV. Because she will be.

A few weeks ago I was dreaming of summer, because if you know me I am no snow bunny. I crave the SUN! I also am an avid gardener and my bare garden just makes me sad in the winter! So whilst dreaming away on the Pottery Barn web site I found their kids picnic table for hundreds of dollars! NOT HAPPENING!

So I posted a suggestion on Anna’s site wondering if she might draw up some kids outdoor table plans. And guess what landed in my Google reader yesterday morning? That’s right: Plans for a kids picnic table!

I was so excited  I built it that afternoon. Yes, that afternoon. And yes it was just $18 worth of lumber. Yes, $18!!!

POTTERY BARN YOU HAVE BEEN HACKED!

So so excited to build more. I think I may build these for every kid I know for the next year! Maybe no more photography??? Take a look at the picture of the complete product.

I don’t mind if you look close. It’s far from perfect and that is FINE with me. It only cost $18! WOO HOO! Love you Anna!
